JOUGNE
The gateway to Switzerland, the gateway to France and therefore the gateway to Franche-Comté, Jougne is at the crossroads of history. Once a fortified town, Jean l'Antique had a fortified castle built here, which was demolished twice. To this day, a gateway, ramparts and ruins of the fortified castle remain. The Chapelle Saint Maurice dates from the 12th century and has a Carolingian crypt.
The village comprises Jougne above and the hamlets of La Ferrière, Le Moulin, Les Maillots, Les Echampés and Les Tavins below.
On the slopes of Mont Suchet, there is a typical mountain hamlet: Entre les Fourgs (the inhabitants are called the Brûle-Loups). The villagers have preserved a ski resort with 4 slopes and a snow park, and cross-country ski trails start from the village.
In summer, the village of Jougne offers numerous signposted hiking and mountain biking trails.
