Saône

Saône

-

Saône is a French commune in the Doubs department in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region.
The commune has a marsh. The marsh represents a major ecological challenge for the region. It is a sensitive area as a water reserve for Besançon and as a natural space to be protected for the quality and richness of its flora and fauna (Natura 2000 listing).
It is the subject of a management and development programme run by the Syndicat Mixte de Marais.
Nature lovers can indulge in photography, hiking and birdwatching. Guided tours are offered on a regular basis.
Attractions:
Walkers can also take advantage of the forest paths, the GR 95 and the viewpoints from the "grandes fosses" and the "Creux sous roche".
The church, completed in 1770, the fountain-washhouses built in 1833 and the town hall-school built in 1841 are also well worth a visit.
