The Au grain d'Argile workshop is located in the hollow of the landscape, in the south of the Jura, within a straw house: utilitarian, decorative or artistic ceramics...
A workshop and an exhibition room present Muriel Grosjean Kovarik's creations: utilitarian and decorative ceramics, unique pieces, small series, tableware in throwing and modelling.
Muriel uses a Gallo-Roman technique: terra sigillata, the colour comes from the local clay, polished, fired with smoke, sometimes enhanced with coloured enamels.
>> Techniques :
Enamelled stoneware: pictorial compositions for a plunge into the richness of the materials and colours of enamels. Offer of their interactions thanks to the superimposition and fusion of their mineral bodies during the high temperature gas firing (1280°C).
Terres sigillées: an ancient technique developed by the Greeks and Romans, using a fine clay juice as a glaze. The clay from my garden, filtered, decanted, applied, patinated and sgraffitoed, reveals itself during the firing process (1030°C), from satin to brilliant, waterproof.
Firing reveals the unique character of each piece.
