The waterfall of Baume-les-Messieurs is one of the most beautiful examples of tufa waterfalls. The waterfall is fed by the Dard river which gushes out at the bottom of the recule. Its shape varies with the seasons; in winter you may find it petrified by the frost, in mid-season it is in flood and in summer it is full of greenery. The tuffs are formed by the limestone carried in the water which is deposited little by little on the rocks and the plants which form the waterfall.
Large free bus and car park nearby.
Souvenir shop, refreshment terrace, arbour, shelters, large grassy area for groups wishing to picnic.
The waterfall is freely accessible all year round. It is in spring that the flow is the most important, in summer there is very little water!
