The Cartaux Bougaud estate has been in business for almost 50 years: the first grapes were harvested from a 20-acre plot in 1973. The first bottles were produced using a very traditional vinification method.
The first vines were planted in 1975, but it wasn't until 1983 that the estate really got going. From then on, Anne-Marie Bougaud and Guy Cartaux decided to devote themselves entirely to the winegrowing profession. They acquired Château de Quintigny and bought new vines, thus immersing themselves in this captivating profession and enabling the estate to become part of the Jura winegrowing tradition.
Today, the estate is run by Sébastien Cartaux who, as an independent winemaker, continues to produce wines exclusively from the 20 hectares of vines he cultivates.
The vines are located in the Étoile and Côtes du Jura appellations. Under these AOCs, the estate produces mainly white wines, but also red wines, Crémant du Jura and typical Jura specialities such as Vin Jaune, Vin de Paille and Macvin du Jura.
