Fruitière des Pâturages de Nozeroy

This is where the cheesemakers from the Pâturages de Nozeroy cooperative process the milk produced by 23 local farms every day, with passion and professionalism.

Their dairy cows produce over 6 million litres of milk a year. This enables the dairy to make 650 tonnes of tasty Comté cheese, or around fifty wheels of cheese a day!

In the interests of animal welfare, the herds graze in the summer months in the surrounding pastures, at altitudes of between 700 and 1,000 metres. These meadows are home to dozens of different plant species, which explains the unique taste and rich flora of the Comté cheese produced by the fruitière.

The cooperative's shop is an excellent way of showcasing the Jura region, with a wide selection of regional products. You'll of course find the cooperative's Comté cheese in various degrees of ripening (mild, fruity or aged), as well as other local cheeses such as Morbier, Mont-d'Or or Petit Mournier...

The shop also offers a selection of cured meats and local drinks to accompany the cheeses. An added bonus is the panoramic view of the production room from the shop, allowing visitors to admire the cheese-makers' expertise.
