5 Jura lakes to photograph in autumn
Autumn is the season when Mother Nature puts on her best performance, and the Jura Mountains are probably her most beautiful stage. The orange hues of the forests of Jura are mirrored in the waters of a countless variety of lakes. Saint Point Lake, Bonlieu Lake, the Four Lakes, Genin Lake and Vouglans Lake are our Top 5 to visit in autumn and photograph, preferably from one of the high panoramic viewpoints. The shimmering colours offer an ultimate burst of life before the onset of winter.

Bonlieu Lake
A little gem decorated in a blaze of colourA small stretch of water (left behind by glaciers approximately 20,000 years ago) tucked between rock faces and forests which, come the autumn, are transformed into a blaze of yellow and orange.
Add a fishing boat or two, an ancient abbey (now a holiday gîte), and you get a sublime scene waiting to be photographed without restraint from La Ronde panoramic viewpoint.

Saint-Point Lake
Lake, cabins, and even a hiking trailIn autumn, the tiny village of Port-Titi on the banks of Saint-Point lake is probably one of the most photogenic sites you'll ever see.
A few wooden chalets, boats swaying lazily in the breeze, and the lake in all its colourful autumn glory.
After taking your photos, if you're feeling energetic enough, take the 20km walk around the lake to get some exercise while admiring Mother Nature's greatest autumn spectacle.

Genin Lake
Canadian atmosphereAs is often the case in the Jura Mountains, this place feels like Canada. Perched 850 metres above sea level, it is a tiny lake with a majestic aura in autumn. The ideal place to get away from civilisation for the day, or longer if you fancy sleeping at the small lakeside lodge.

Vouglans Lake
Snap away from the 2 high panoramic viewpointsIt's impossible not to be moved as you gaze at the shimmering length of this 35km mirror of emerald green which is even more beautiful in autumn! From the panoramic viewpoints of Coyron or La Roche aux Corneilles, the spectacle of the setting sun is absolutely stunning. Instagram fans take note!

The 4 Lakes panoramic viewpoint
The must-see view of the 4 lakesPrepare to admire not one lake but four, from the aptly-named "4 Lakes panoramic viewpoint"! Ilay, Narlay, Petit Maclu and Grand Maclu, four of nature's little marvels exalted by the bright autumn colours. To tell the truth, this "Little Scotland", as the site was appropriately nicknamed by Charles Nodier, will fill you with wonder in any season.
