The Vouivre is the fabulous snake of the legends which inspired Marcel Aymé's novel : "She wears, on her forehead, an enormous precious stone of inestimable value, called the escarboucle. Before bathing she places it on the shore, hides it in the moss or under a stone. Only then is there any chance of getting hold of it, and then fortune is made. But if the Vouivre catches the thief, her revenge will be terrible.
When you look at the waterfall, you get the feeling that the waters suddenly rise from the rock and fall further down into an emerald green basin.
Access: from the Tourist Office, go to the Pont de Pierre. At the hiking post, the Vouivre waterfall is indicated: follow the yellow markers. The path starts in the rue de la glacière. After the skate park, go over the bridge to the left and follow the chemin de la Crozate, then at the next crossing, take the chemin de Diesles.
