In this former salt granary, you can feast on generous Jura specialties (morel mushroom crust, coq au vin jaune...) in the vaulted dining room or on the terrace under the arbor. All of this is paired with a white or red wine... from Jura, of course! In short, it’s French gastronomy just the way we like it: convivial, authentic, and showcasing our local Jura products.
Check out this shop and its delicious smoked charcuterie. The Thaurin brothers use traditional methods to produce cold cuts of high quality, including cured ham, saucisson made with vin jaune, Arbois wine or Macvin and various terrines.

Do not leave Salins-les-Bains without a piece of Comté. This cheese dairy is one of the last still operating in the village. It adjoins the production workshop, so here's your chance to try some excellent PDO cheeses made right on the premises.

La Grande Saline
Listed as UNESCO World Heritage, the royal saltworks of Arc-et-Senans is first and foremost an architectural work of art. Its two museums reveal the many facets of this exceptional site. One tells the story of salt, the other focuses on the visionary genius of its architect, Claude-Nicolas Ledoux. You can then enjoy a stroll in the gardens.
Saline Royale d'Arc-et-Senans
This cycle touring itinerary takes you along the historic salt roads of Jura. The route stretches for 300 km from Arc-et-Senans, home of the majestic UNESCO-listed Royal Saltworks, to Bern in Switzerland. This is an adventure you can enjoy by bike or by car, to admire the amazing scenery and an impressive built heritage of fortresses, customs posts, salt warehouses, way stations, inns... and towns that became spa resorts thanks to their salty waters.
Salt production in Salins-les-Bains originally ended in 1962, but was relaunched on an artisanal scale in 2021 by Fabrice Piquet, a Maître Cuisinier de France. The brine used comes directly from the town’s own saltwater springs. This untreated salt, free from preservatives and anti-caking agents, is available for purchase at the town's Tourist Office shop.
