From Ornans to Paris, the museum takes visitors on a journey through Courbet's career, the aesthetic breakthrough he made, the artistic circles he frequented, and his political involvement right up to his exile and death in Switzerland. Covering more than 1,000 m² and 21 permanent and temporary exhibition rooms, the Courbet museum is housed in three superb town houses. Its new configuration means that temporary exhibitions can be held simultaneously with the permanent exhibition.
