The High Jura mountains are a small, exceptionally wild region that harbours a fragile ecosystem.
To ensure it continues to exist, be mindful of the nature around you and observe the regulations in force. Only then can the mountains remain intact to enchant future generations in the way that they enchant us today.
The Faucille Pass is a natural balcony that offers a stunning view of the Mont-Blanc, for a holiday packed with emotions and experiences. Bring the family in any season to explore by whichever means you fancy, and enjoy other activities suitable for both children and adults... Not forgetting Monts-Jura, the resort with a human feel and surrounded by fabulous scenery...
The Faucille Pass, a balcony overlooking Lake Geneva
At 1,323 metres above sea level, with a 360° panoramic view of the Mont-Blanc on one side and the Valserine Valley on the other, prepare to feast your eyes!
By road, the stunning landscapes quickly unfurl before you. The RN5 is a road that winds its way from Gex to the Faucille Pass in a long succession of hairpin bends, with amazing views at every turn. Photography enthusiasts, be warned, you'll want to stop at every single car park to shoot the scenery along the way!
Alternatively, you can take a seat on the chairlift from Mijoux, sit back and enjoy the ride as well as the views.
Departure point for multiple hiking trails
Once you reach the Faucille Pass, slip into your hiking shoes or snowshoes to continue your ascent! You can walk up the Petit Mont Rond or reach the top on the Mont-Rond hybrid lift, a good solution if you have small children with you.
Once at the top, you'll be intoxicated by the fresh air and amazing scenery: Lake Geneva unfurls before you and, in the distance, you can see the jagged peaks of the Alps.
After gazing for a while you'll spring into action, walking or snowshoeing across the national natural reserve of the High Jura mountains, where you'll find all the highest summits of the massif, including the Grand Mont Rond (1,473m), the top of which you can reach after a 30-minute walk. If you still have enough energy you'll be able to continue up the Colomby de Gex which reaches an elevation of 1,688m.
