Love walking for miles and miles? If you enjoy hikes that take several days, from weekend getaways to a whole week's trek, then the Jura Mountains have just the long-distance routes in the great outdoors for you! If there are just 2 itineraries to keep in mind, they have to be the Grande Traversée du Jura and the Echappée Jurassienne! Both routes promise multiple adventures and beautiful views over a variety of landscapes. In autumn, if you opt for the company of a guide, you'll have plenty of options for exploring along the many long-distance trails across the mountain range.

Step into the legend

2 of the hiking greats

If you're a fan of long-distance hiking, then it's time to try one of these two legendary routes, either in stages or in one go!

A chance to cross the entire Jura mountain range, from north to south on the GTJ or from west to east on the Echappée Jurassienne. You won't just be hiking, you'll be on one of life's journeys as you walk across the land of Jura!

To walk is to return to your primitive instinct, rightful place and true position, and find mental and physical wellbeing.

Reaching for the summits

The Grande Traversée du Jura

The GTJ for walkers is a 394km itinerary stretching across the Jura mountains from north to south. A must-do, to fill your soul and feast your eyes on the wilder-than-wild landscapes that can sometimes make you dizzy. Indeed, this route takes you to the highest summits and crosses some of the most unspoilt areas, including the Regional Nature Park and the high valleys.

The Echappée Jurassienne

The Echappée Jurassienne is a long-distance itinerary stretching for 353km from the plains of Jura to the higher areas of the mountain range.

Your chance to take things slow and enjoy all the best that Jura has to offer: a huge variety of scenery (lakes, vineyards, mountains...) and a whole succession of grand sites like the Hérisson waterfalls or the Pic de l'Aigle. Feast your eyes!
