You can reach the very top of the Jura mountain range by hiking up the Crêt de la Neige, its highest summit! Accessible in any season, it offers uninterrupted views over Lake Geneva and the Alps. If you want to explore further still, you can continue to the neighbouring summit, the Reculet, or walk down to the resort of Monts Jura where you'll find all sorts of activities, as well as accommodation if you want to stay a little longer.
Hiking to the top of Jura
From Lélex, the walk up the accessible Crêt de la Neige can be done in any season. The view from the top embraces the entire Geneva basin, Lake Geneva and the Alps.
EASY HIKING
By taking the Lélex gondola lift, walkers of all levels can enjoy the very modest climb. The relatively low contours of Upper Jura make this summit accessible to everyone.
A HIKING CHALLENGE
For a more challenging climb, you can begin on the GR9 hiking trail from Lélex, then follow the Geneva Balcony GR trail to the ridge that leads to the Crêt de la Neige!
More informationContinuing to the top of the Reculet
The Reculet summit has nothing to envy of its neighbour, the Crêt de la Neige. In fact, the view from the top, at 1,718 metres, is even more spectacular! It can be reached by continuing your hike from the top of the Crêt de la Neige, or you can take the Reculet trail directly.
Beware, however, of the rather steep uphill and downhill sections that do require good walking shoes.
The cross at the top was installed by the blacksmiths and residents of Thoiry.
Monts Jura Resort
To really make the most of these beautiful mountains, head for the resort of Monts Jura.
On the foothills approaching the highest summits of the massif, you'll be amazed by the two-fold nature of Monts Jura Resort, which offers both challenging, natural slopes and a safe playground for less daring mountain enthusiasts.
In winter or summer, skiers and hikers can really switch off as they discover all the riches of the Gex region.
