Relaxing break at Télémark'afé

Well-known to skiers with an appetite, the Télémark'afé crêperie and pasta bar promises a moment of mountain togetherness and the temptation to stay a few minutes longer by the woodburning stove to sip at a hot drink, or to laze in the sun on the terrace.

Bonus: the portable fondue kit!

And if you fancy a Télémark'afé takeaway, you can even rent a 'fondue kit' containing everything you need to prepare a little feast to eat hot at the top of the Dôle. Isn't life great in Les Rousses?

Day 1 - Evening

A comforting meal at the Anversis

The Anversis keeps its promise of a 'natural, responsible and generous' cuisine, using exclusively organic and/or locally-sourced ingredients that follow the seasons, the only exceptions being the coffee, chocolate and spices which are all fair-trade.

Let the menu guide you and be bold enough to try the unusual food associations (trout tartare with absinthe, veal knuckle with semolina and dates, etc.). The wine cellar gives pride of place to the local products of Jura, but also the neighbouring Burgundy and Rhône valley. Not forgetting absinthe, the other speciality of the region. Remember, L'Anversis opens only in the evening (and Sunday lunchtime). A timeless gourmet experience.

Cosy night at the Domaine du Mont-Saint-Jean

In winter, the Domaine du Mont-Saint-Jean offers a superb panoramic view of the snow-covered Noirmont massif. But also the warm comfort of a 3-star hotel, a feel-good haven in the heart of Les Rouses Resort, which makes it the natural place to round off your day in the great outdoors.

And this grand place has a great restaurant too, with a menu of local specialities that should meet your expectations, served the traditional way or with a nice modern twist. You'll spend the night in this peaceful cocoon with a decor of light-coloured wood, to savour your moment of pure pleasure to the full...

Cross-country galore

Just a stone's throw from Lajoux, the Massacre Forest boasts one of the most beautiful cross-country skiing trails in Haut-Jura. But it requires a little effort, as this challenging 20 km trail covers an elevation gain of 400 metres with a few short steep sections that put both the thighs and lung capacity to the test.

This setting is also the sanctuary of some of the massif's protected species: lynx, capercaillie, hazel grouse... Keep your eyes open and you may stand a chance of spotting them!

Break on a sunny terrace

You don't need the car to get to the Chalet de la Frasse!

Standing 1,293 metres above sea level, this gîte and restaurant is unreachable by road when snow covers the ground. So you'll need your cross-country skis or snowshoes to reach it via a 2-km marked-out trail. Once there, you'll enjoy the sunshine or huddle up around the fireplace in the middle of the room, to make the most of its reinvigorating warmth. The Chalet is a restaurant at lunchtime, but also serves evening meals if booked ahead.

The icing on the cake is that everything is cooked on the premises! The Chalet de la Frasse can sleep up to 19 guests in a dormitory, to prolong the pleasure of a little pampering in the mountains...
